Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tool & Die Technical Team Member will maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to line calls and equipment failures. The Tool & Die Technical Team Member routinely performs work independently and must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing their duties.

Salary Range: $48.00 per hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification in Tool and Die

  • Candidates will have a Certificate of Apprenticeship or possess a recognized equivalent (testing to validate abilities may be required)

  • Minimum three (3) years experience working in a similar role

  • Demonstrated knowledge of English, both oral and written

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical would be an asset

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics

  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Skills in all machine shop equipment including (mills, lathes grinders, drill presses, etc.)

  • Ability to design, build, prove out projects for tooling, fixtures and clamping

  • Demonstrated knowledge of welding (mig, stick and tig)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the hydraulics and pneumatics (basic ability to repair and replace cylinders)

  • Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements, as they relate to the job function

  • Ability to work independently, without supervision

  • Ability to work to deadlines and support multiple demands

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to uphold confidentiality

  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and follows-up on project implementation, including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction and commissioning, as required

  • Provides support in troubleshooting, repairing and making system improvements (optimization), to ensure quality and efficiencies within the department

  • Identifies root cause of equipment failures and follow-up on feasibility of modifications

  • Analyzes, records, charts and maintains all documentation for maintenance records, projects and departments, including generating work orders and updates to Fix System

  • Prepares drawings and materials specifications for requisitions required by vendors or other departments

  • Deals with various vendors (Supplier and Equipment)

  • Participates in cross-functional training (multi-skilling) activities related to other trades, within the organization

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving results

  • Performs preventative maintenance to defined schedules

  • Assists and supports in all other technical areas, where required

  • Ensures all operator safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations

  • Maintains a clean and environmentally safe workshop and production lines

  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e., IATF16949, ISO14001)

  • Understands, promote and live by Magna's philosophies and Employee Charter
