Maintenance Mechanic
Department: Manufacturing & Distribution - General Labor
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: North Kingstown, RI
Reporting To: Chris Rich
Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00 / hour
Description
Provide a wide variety of duties involving numerous trades in the maintenance and repair of company facilities, equipment and machines working under the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Lead
How You Will Help
  • Lead the team in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment
  • Jump in on both scheduled and emergency repairs to reduce downtime and keep operations on track
  • Oversee and participate in regular preventative maintenance; make sure it's done right and on time
  • Review and improve maintenance procedures (PMs), and provide feedback on areas needing more attention
  • Spot potential breakdowns or safety issues early and communicate them clearly to management
  • Recommend equipment upgrades or improvements to boost reliability and efficiency
  • Train, mentor, and support less experienced maintenance team members to help them grow and succeed
  • Step in with basic pipe fitting and hands-on work when needed
  • Make sure the team safely uses forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment
  • Enforce proper use of PPE and ensure everyone follows safety protocols
  • Use precision tools (like micrometers and depth gauges) to inspect and measure as needed
  • Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Make sure all tasks are done according to company procedures and safety standards
  • Lead by example in identifying and fixing any safety hazards
  • Handle other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Lead or upper management

What you Will Bring
  • Moderate to advanced functional knowledge of mechanical components (valves, pressure regulators, pipe fittings, bearings, belts and belt drives, gearboxes, etc.)
  • Moderate to advanced ability to read and understand schematics, mechanical prints/drawings, hydraulic schematics.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment completing tasks efficiently and with a sense of responsibility.
  • Must understand and enforce safe work practices, such as but not limited to, LOTO, working at heights, working with compressed gasses, forklift hoist safety and others as deemed necessary according to company policies.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow written instructions for log taking and data recording/reporting as necessary.
  • Moderate to advanced understanding of CNC milling machines, saws and flame cutting equipment or the demonstrated ability to learn in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to be certified to operate a forklift and use hoists to pick up heavy parts.
