Our companies are the worldโ€™s recognized leaders in the engineering, manufacturing, leasing, selling, and servicing of industrial equipment and components serving food production and processing companies. Gulftechโ€™s family of companies touches 90% of the worldโ€™s fresh produce, nuts, and fish products across 85 countries worldwide.

About Gulfco Manufacturing

Gulfco is a family-owned manufacturing organization with best-in-class operations and a โ€œsmall companyโ€ culture that produces parts, equipment, and industrial solutions for the global food processing and packaging industries. As a proud member of the Gulftech family of companies, we serve as the turnkey supplier to a diverse portfolio of multi-national contract manufacturers, each of which is the leader in their respective market throughout the world.

Position Summary

The Quality Supervisor is a hands-on, shop-floorโ€“focused role responsible for ensuring product quality within machine shop and sheet metal fabrication operations. This position works directly with machinists, fabricators, welders, and production leadership to prevent defects, maintain process control, and support efficient manufacturing execution.

The role requires a strong understanding of machining and fabrication processes, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and models, and working knowledge of quality systems and tools. While Quality Management System awareness is required, the primary emphasis is on practical, dayโ€‘toโ€‘day quality application in manufacturing, not administrative compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily quality activities within machine shops and sheet metal fabrication operations, including machining, welding, forming, cutting, and assembly.
  • Maintain a strong shop-floor presence to support production personnel and address quality issues in real time.
  • Ensure quality requirements are applied at the point of manufacture rather than relying solely on final inspection.
  • Perform and/or oversee first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T, ensuring fabrication and machining meet design intent.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to review part models, drawings, revisions, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve design-for-manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) efforts related to machining, fabrication, or process failures.
  • Support and maintain applicable elements of the Quality Management System (QMS) within manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure inspection and measurement equipment is properly used, maintained, and calibrated.
  • Assist in developing and updating work instructions, inspection criteria, and standard work for fabrication and machining processes.
  • Track, analyze, and report key quality metrics including defects, scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality.
  • Support supplier quality activities related to machined and fabricated components as required.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve repeatability, reduce variation, and increase throughput.
  • Support new products, equipment, or process introductions, ensuring quality expectations are clearly communicated and implemented.
  • Train and coach shop personnel on quality requirements, inspection methods, and defect prevention.
  • Promote a strong quality culture emphasizing accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering and 2-5 yearsโ€™ experience in manufacturing machine design (preferred).

-10-15 Yearsโ€™ experience in manufacturing or machine design without a bachelorโ€™s degree.
- Experience with Machine shops, Fabrication shops, and high-speed machine design/build desired.

-Knowledge of processes such as ejection molding, powder coating, electropolishing, and chrome plating desired.

-Experience in the food and beverage processing industry desired.

- Experience implementing and sustaining an effective Quality Management system in a manufacturing facility.

- Knowledge of experimental design, statistics, and statistical software such as Minitab desired.

- In-depth knowledge of risk analysis tools.

- Experience in process validations, verifications, and associated statistics.
- Experience in Risk Analysis/Management and methods (e.g., Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and PPAP).

- Experience in Corrective and Preventive Action and Non-conforming Material processes.

- Proficiency in quality tools and techniques such as flowcharts, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and root cause analysis methods.

- Exposure to Lean manufacturing systems and knowledge of key tools desired.

- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead large-scale change management initiatives.

- Proven ability to effectively participate in and lead multi-disciplinary teams.

- Strong, hands-on leadership and management skills.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Project).

- Experience with manufacturing ERP systems.
