Job Title: Machinist Apprentice
Departments: Operations
Reports To: Technical Manager/ Machinist V - Lead
Job Class: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Pay Rate: Dependent upon experience
Location: Orlando, FL
Position Summary:
CNC Machine Shop Apprentice supports day-to-day operations in the machine shop. Assist experienced machinists, perform basic shop tasks, and learn foundational skills related to CNC machining.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain the machine shop, including sweeping floors, organizing tools, and disposing of scrap materials properly.
  • Deburr machined parts using hand tools, grinders, files, and other equipment to remove sharp edges and ensure a smooth finish.
  • Clean machined parts using various cleaning solutions following all safety protocols.
  • Assist machinists with setups, loading/unloading parts, and general tasks around the machines.
  • Support inventory management by organizing raw materials, tooling, and finished parts.
  • Help with moving materials around the shop using carts or forklifts (if certified).
  • Learn to use basic measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers under supervision.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and show willingness to learn more advanced machining tasks over time.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing or machining.
  • Familiarity with tools or shop settings is a plus
  • Able to communicate effectively with others and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Attention to detail and quality.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license.

Education, Experience and Training:
  • High school education or GED
  • Enrollment in or completion of a technical or vocational program.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required for the position.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
