The Shop Forklift Painter prepares, cleans, and applies industrial paint coatings to forklifts and heavy machinery, ensuring high-quality finishes while operating forklifts for material movement. Key responsibilities include masking parts, sandblasting, paint mixing, and spray painting. This role typically requires, or offers, forklift certification, alongside knowledge of safety protocols.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Clean, degrease, sand, and grind equipment, as well as sandblast and apply masking to parts not being painted.
  • Apply primers, base coats, and finishing coats to equipment using spray equipment.
  • Move heavy parts and machinery (e.g., engines, carriages) within the shop, loading and unloading from paint booths.
  • Maintain a clean workspace, properly manage hazardous materials (paint/solvents), and wear required PPE.
  • Verify coating thickness, adhesion, and finish quality.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous industrial painting or prep experience, preferably with heavy equipment, is usually required.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain or hold a valid forklift certification.
