Job Description

The Machine Operator (Helper Operator) supports high-speed production operations in a Bensenville manufacturing facility by assisting with the operation of roll wrapping machines, a critical step in the cable production process. This role involves loading large spools of cable, monitoring and adjusting equipment, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The position is ideal for someone with prior manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support roll wrapping machines as part of the cable production process.
  • Load large spools of cable onto machinery and ensure proper setup for production runs.
  • Monitor machine performance and make basic adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Follow daily production schedules and work to consistently meet output goals.
  • Perform regular quality checks to confirm that finished products meet all required specifications.
  • Assist with general production duties and tasks as needed to support overall operations.

Work Environment

The process begins with wire on large spools fed into high-speed machines running at approximately 1,200–1,500 feet per minute, followed by an extrusion process where wire is coated with various materials, colors, and thicknesses to meet customer specifications. The roll wrapping stage, where this role is focused, ensures that finished products are properly packaged and prepared for shipment. The position is available on 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday). The environment is fast-paced and industrial, with regular use of hand and power tools and large production machinery, and requires working on your feet for extended periods while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.38 - $19.25/hr.
