We are looking for Machine Operators for our 3rd shift operation (11:00 pm to 7:00 am) The operator will perform to meet manufacturing goals in the areas of safety, quality, production and efficiency. Must be able to set up and provide indirect supervision to packers operating multiple production lines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager. Must participate in monthly Safety Topic as well as pass monthly assessments.
  • Ensures a quality product through regular quality checks, by reading and verifying line orders and spec sheets. Responds to Packers/Sr. Packers, QA, or other Process Techs when quality issues arise. Reports any out of spec product to the Team Lead or Production Supervisor immediately.
  • Participates in employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed to maintain a clean and orderly work space.
  • Performs all duties related to start-ups. Threads up equipment with film and draw tape. Using correct gloves and PPE at all times.
  • Performs roll changes when replacing film and/or conducting a product change
  • Change out draw tape spools and know that there are various sized spools.
  • Learn to adjust pinners and help tape pinners in bag machine and draw tape module, clean pinners.
  • Identifies when a bleed/vent slit blades, hole punch claw, seal bar tape, perforation knives, drive belts, or other parts are dirty or worn; replaces seal bar tape with new tape.
  • Notifies Team Lead and/or Production Supervisor when production and/or quality issues arise.
  • Replaces filters on bag winder, bag machine, draw tape module and unwind.
  • Learns the basics of resin: where it comes from, terminology of resin, how to read the silo scales equipment components / functions.
  • Learn terminology used in production process such as FPM (feet per minute); EEF and MEEF and how they are affected, PPLH (pounds per labor hour) and understand how it is impacted.
  • Tracks daily scrap.
  • Learns to operate an electric pallet jack and complete an inspection report
  • Reads travelers and set up all orders within specifications.
  • Troubleshoots assigned equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High Scholl Diploma or GED.
  • In addition to the educational requirements 1-2 years hands on manufacturing experience in a production environment working with mechanical/electrical machinery. Blown film industry experience preferred, but not required.
