Job Summary
The Set-Up Operator is responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating machinery to ensure efficient and high-quality production. This position involves both the technical setup of machines and the daily operation of equipment. The Set-Up Operator supports production by performing accurate first-piece inspections, assisting operators with material needs, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
  • Follow all established company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Set up machinery and equipment according to production specifications.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and ensure quality standards are met before and during production.
  • Provide necessary components and materials to operators to meet daily production needs.
  • Start machinery, monitor performance, and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency.
  • Operate machinery in accordance with work instructions and production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot set-up and operational issues.
  • Accurately complete machine set-up reports (MSRs) and maintain required records.
  • Enter repair work orders accurately and immediately when maintenance is needed.
  • Record, review, and communicate issues such as non-conforming packages, rework and backwinds.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and clean assigned machines/work areas.
  • Comply with all production schedule requirements and deadlines.
  • Report hazards, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement to supervisor.
  • Assist on other shifts when required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous machine operating or set-up experience in a manufacturing facility (preferred).
  • Must be detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Understanding of production and plant processes.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to lift 25-50 lbs. and stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.

Performance Measurables
  • 100% accurate completion of machine set-ups according to specifications.
  • 100% completion of first-piece inspections with documented verification before production runs.
  • <2% set-up-related infractions that result in formal documentation including but not limited to: Disciplinary Action, Internal Corrective Action and/or Corrective Action
  • 100% on-time and accurate submission of Machine Set-Up Reports (MSRs).
  • Consistent positive feedback from supervisors regarding accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Shall not exceed 3 attendance points per quarter.
