Job description

Machine Operator / Winding Operator

Peru, IN
Pay: $17.00/hour starting | Scheduled increases up to approximately $19.00/hour (After 60 Days)
Schedule: Day and Night Shift Opportunities
Contract-to-Hire

A well-established global manufacturing organization is seeking Machine Operators to join its production team at a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing and distribution facility in North-Central Indiana.

This is a hands-on manufacturing position operating high-speed automated converting and winding equipment. Operators will be responsible for loading raw materials, monitoring equipment, inspecting finished products, stacking and packaging materials, and performing basic preventive maintenance.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous machine operating or manufacturing experience who wants a consistent schedule, opportunities to cross-train, scheduled wage growth, and the stability of a large organization.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor high-speed automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Load rolls or spools of raw material into production machinery.
  • Monitor the winding and converting process to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Remove, stack, package, and organize finished products.
  • Perform visual inspections and dimensional checks to verify product quality.
  • Use calipers, tape measures, and other basic measuring devices to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Identify and correct minor equipment issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance, including cleaning equipment, lubricating components, clearing material jams, and addressing minor roller or bearing issues.
  • Make basic machine adjustments as necessary to maintain production and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Accurately complete required production and quality documentation.
  • Follow all plant safety, quality, and operating procedures.
  • Cross-train on additional equipment and production processes as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ months of manufacturing, production, or machine operating experience preferred.
  • Experience operating high-speed or high-volume manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
  • Experience performing basic preventive maintenance on production equipment is a plus.
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools and measuring equipment such as calipers and tape measures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and cross-train in different areas.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work a consistent schedule.
  • Ability to remain on your feet throughout the shift and perform repetitive physical activities including walking, lifting, twisting, bending, and stacking materials.

Work Environment:

This position is located in a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled manufacturing facility. While much of the production equipment is automated, operators remain actively involved throughout the process.
