Job description

(X)  STANDING

11 hours on concrete floor

(X )  SITTING

1 hour for breaks and personal time

(X)  MOVING (SELF)

Up and down throughout entire shift moving separation rods between heddles to finish cycle of machine.

(X)  CLIMBING

Up and down ladder approx. 48 times/shift.

(X )  MOVING (MATERIALS)

Pushes 1,500-2,000 lbs. on wheels 5 times/shift 400 ft.  (2 men required)

(X )  HEARING / SPEAKING

Must be able to hear prontow alarm from a distance of 10’, ability to hear and speak to dept. personnel-job related duties

(X)  REACHING

Must be able to reach approx. 40” (H) repeatedly throughout shift.

(X)  VISUAL ACUITY

Must be able to read normal print.  Must be able to any quality problems with pattern. Distinguish colors.  Must meet vision requirements for industrial licensure.

(X)  BENDING / STOOPING

Bend over warp to check lease 5 times/shift.  30” above floor level

(X)  OTHER

Fingering: Must be able to feed heddles as warp is being drawn.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Wear safety glasses when cutting out a bad heddle/dropwire. Hearing protection in designated areas. Shoes must cover entire foot, heel to toe.  No jewelry, hair below shoulders must be pulled back and pinned up. Do not blow off clothes with air hose.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:

MANDATORY:

High school graduate or equivalent.  Basic math.  Industrial truck license.  Qualified Barber-Coleman helper, computer knowledge

PREFERRED:

Weaving background, electronic background.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work assigned schedule and shift with minimal absences.  Must be able to tolerate non-toxic odors. 

MACH, TOOLS, & EQUIP.

MATERIALS USED

Heddles, dropwires, steel harness ribs, oils, various deniers of synthetic yarn, etc.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Immediate supervisor – works with minimum amount of supervision.

DIRECTION EXERCISED

Directs machine helpers as to the amount and kind of material needed.

WORKING PROCEDURES:

     01.

Checks machine for possible mechanical malfunctions.

     02.

Lubricates machine regularly to help achieve optimum efficiency.

     03.

Prepare warp to be drawn.

     04.

Read pattern chains and repair stops as necessary. Cut new pattern chain if necessary

     05.

When pattern complete, check for quality and assist in unloading machine.

     06.

Performs P.M. on  machines as required by P.M. program on head drives.

     07.

Observes safety precautions as established by the department and participates in department safety program.
