The Press Assistant plays a critical role on the production floor, working side-by-side with the Press Operator to keep jobs moving efficiently, safely, and with high quality. This position is hands-on and fast-paced, focused on preparing materials, managing inks, and ensuring every job is set up for success—both now and next.

What You’ll Do

Working under the direction of the Press Operator, you will:

  • Read and interpret Run Condition Reports to understand job requirements
  • Stage and prepare inks, materials, sleeves, anilox rolls, doctor blade chambers, and job documentation
  • Set up and organize materials for upcoming runs to minimize downtime
  • Communicate actively with the Press Operator during setups and job changes
  • Load and unload materials from the press safely and efficiently
  • Monitor and maintain ink viscosity to meet quality standards
  • Keep ink systems, pumps, and surrounding areas clean and organized
  • Clean, store, and protect sleeves, plates, and anilox rolls after use
  • Track and report setup waste accurately
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining the press and surrounding work area
  • Report mechanical issues or concerns promptly to the Operator
  • Maintain consistent, reliable attendance
