Job description

Position Overview:
We're hiring for a Digital Press Operator - 3rd Shift. Primary responsibility is to set-up and operate the HP Digital Press; Prepares for preflight, color adjustments, and manufacture of all digitally printed products. Completes visual and specification quality checks on each retain and continuously monitors quality and press conditions. Maintains press efficiency and minimizes waste. Performs digital press maintenance and requisitions supplies; Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Sets-up job in accordance with job ticket and product specification documents. This includes pre-flighting files, making color adjustments, staging and queuing.
  • Completes job start-up, quality sign-off, including specification and visual checks.
  • Operates digital press to produce product in conformance with customer specifications while minimizing waste and maintaining press efficiency.
  • Requisitions all supplies required to operate the digital press and produce quality digital labels, including inks, coatings, machine supplies, parts and tools.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintains and troubleshoots the press and related equipment.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance program; contracting with local HP Service professionals as needed and completing Maintenance Request Forms for equipment needing repairs.

  • Safety:

  • Follows all safety guidelines for proper material handling, machine, and tooling use.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment
  • Reports any safety risks to supervisor or safety team representative.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required.
  • Experience operating a digital press and/or minimum 2 years web and/or offset experience, preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal and external communications to perform job duties. Effective interpersonal skills needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
  • Proficient knowledge of production materials, quality methods, and color standards are necessary.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude required.
  • Computer prepress/preflight knowledge is preferred. Advanced computer skills needed.
  • Able to frequently stand and walk.
  • Must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

The physical demands require standing, using hands to finger, feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
