Shift: 3rd, Sunday - Thursday, 11:00pm - 7:30am
Job Summary and Mission:
Run multiple Osterwalder, Dorst, or PCT presses producing a quality product to blueprint specifications.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate a multitude of CNC Carbide Presses which may include the following machines: Dorst, Osterwalder, or PCT. Computer controlled setup of these machines.
  • Make adjustment to CNC programs as a part of setup.
  • Load and off-load trays from multiple presses.
  • Gage parts to insure proper dimensions.
  • Scope parts to verify visual characteristics.
  • Selecting and weighing Tungsten powder for pressing into green parts.
  • Separate scrap from good parts document accurately.
  • Scan correct production information in Mii. Maintain tooling used in machines, resurfacing as needed.
  • Operate other equipment as needed.
  • Train new operators when required.
  • Operators required to trouble shooting moderate to complex problems.
  • Do Quality Checks per Quality Inspection plan, verify powder and lot, verify tooling matches production order and press information sheet.

Key Job Accountabilities:
  • Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures.
  • Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions.
  • Operator responsible for following Press Data Sheet, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and that the quantity and style are correct.
  • Work to meet daily departmental production goals.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Communicate safety, quality, product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 year technical degree preferred.
  • 1+ years manufacturing experience required. Experience with CNC or PLC machine controls preferred.

Work Environment:
  • Environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems.
  • Safety glasses with side-shields required.
  • Safety Shoes are required.
  • Gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary.

Physical Demands :
  • Approximately 8-10 hours standing.
  • Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, squatting, kneeling and bending.
  • Lifting up to thirty-three (33) pounds.

Problem Solving
  • Run orders by due date.
  • Follow Press Data Sheet and Inspection Standards.
  • Assignments and instructions communicated orally and carried out by standing guidelines.
  • Must inspect tooling as required.
  • Moderate to complex problems solved by operator using learned knowledge of product type, production processes and in some cases, coordination with technical experts inside and outside of the plant.
  • Recurring problems and major decisions receive supervisor/lead attention.
