The Production Machine Operator at Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring production machinery to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing of parts. Working under supervision and following detailed production guidelines, the Machine Operator performs quality checks, conducts basic maintenance, and supports continuous improvement and safety initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing machines according to production specifications.
  • Operate Lathe, Bridgeport Milling, Band Saw, and Grinder machinery.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure machines are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Monitor production processes to detect and report malfunctions, quality deviations, or mechanical issues.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including quantity output, downtimes, and quality checks.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to verify product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Remove defective materials and report issues to supervisors or quality control personnel.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance, such as cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
  • Report mechanical failures to maintenance personnel and assist in troubleshooting when needed.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and always follow safe work practices.
  • Load raw materials into machines and ensure proper labeling and handling of materials.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring availability of required tools and materials.
  • Record production data and complete necessary forms or logs accurately and timely.
  • Work cooperatively with other operators, technicians, and supervisors to meet production goals.

What We Are Looking For

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Previous experience operating manufacturing machinery.
  • Ability to operate, adjust, and maintain production machinery.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and quality inspection methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, technical documents, production orders, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:
