What’s a typical day as Machine Operator? You’ll be:
  • Loading production equipment with raw materials and ensuring proper feed mechanism operation
  • Monitoring machine operation and reporting any irregularities to experienced operators or supervisors
  • Verifying part quality by measuring parts according to inspection plans and entering SPC data
  • Alerting Quality Control or supervisors about any concerns regarding part quality
  • Maintaining and lubricating machine tools and equipment as needed
  • Completing all required paperwork including routing cards, tool change logs, and count sheets
  • Properly identifying parts and entering production data into information systems
  • Moving parts to proper locations after machining and verifying quality
  • Communicating essential information for smooth shift transitions
  • Performing minor tool adjustments/changes as necessary to maintain part quality
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly work area and performing daily safety inspections
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess short-term trade schooling or on-the-job training 
  • Are exposed to factory environments and eager to learn machine operations
  • Can lift up to 35 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Are comfortable with continual standing, walking, bending, stooping, and repetitive motion
  • Can read and understand blueprints and inspection plans 
  • Are able to use precision measuring gauges (micrometers, calipers) and hand tools
  • Are able to use computers for production data entry
  • Are committed to following safety policies including PPE, lockout/tag out, fire response, ergonomics, and proper lifting
