Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:  Operator, Paint                                                               FLSA STATUS:  Non Exempt

REPORTS TO:  Supervisor, Manufacturing (Paint)

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor, the Production Operator/Associate is assigned to standardized work of routine nature involving molding machine operation and/or assembly of molded part.  Work generally involves the use of simple hand tools, trimming, retrieving, counting, weighing, packing and general overall inspection of part.  Responsibilities include; distribution within the plant, placement and removal of parts from fixtures, monitoring and recording quality assurance, including charting of machine factors affecting quality.  Production Operators/Associates are required to perform continuous visual and manual quality checks in accordance with standardized guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand for entire work shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Reads, understands, and follows Operator Instruction Sheet to determine part number(s), inspection procedures, packing requirements, and any special instruction.
  • Retrieves, separates, inspects, counts, weighs, packs, and labels parts in accord with written and/or oral instructions.
  • Utilizes clippers, knives, screwdrivers, and other simple hand tools to trim, cut, and prepare parts for other operations per safety procedures.
  • Operates molding machines and/or air activated tools and equipment to assemble, decorate, or produce product.  Advises supervision of machine malfunctions and unacceptable variances in product quality, e.g., flash, splay, contamination, underfill, etc.
  • Compares, inspects, and monitors production quality to approved samples and accepts, rejects, or questions in accord with established standards.
  • Performs simple clerical tasks involving recording and summarizing production as required.
  • Examines, repairs, trims, counts, weighs and performs secondary operations as directed.
  • Performs tasks in accord with standard levels of performance required to meet production rate established for specific part(s) being worked.
  • Performs routine cleaning chores to maintain cleanliness of work station and area per 5S requirements.
  • Interface with the production monitoring system.
  • Assist in color changes / mold changes by cleaning work area or equipment.  Set up for next job (i.e., sample board, OIS, packaging).
  • Assist with breaks for other operators.
  • Other tasks as directed by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
