Job description

Kissner Milling Company is a major salt and packaged ice melt manufacturer and distributor, supplying a wide range of high-quality products to North America for over 130 years. In joining our industry-leading team, you will contribute to upholding the highest standards of quality in all aspects of our business.
The 3rd Shift Production Operator operates and maintains the facility's packaging lines, including scales, manual baggers, and heat sealers. They ensure equipment runs efficiently through regular cleaning and maintenance. The operator performs visual inspections of the bags, checks seals, and conducts weight checks to ensure proper product quantity. The role requires training as both a hopper and sealer.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-inspections of the work area before starting production.
  • Adhere to safety policies and report any concerns to the supervisor.
  • Communicate any equipment or work area deficiencies to the Supervisor or Lead.
  • Ensure the correct product is packaged in the right bag.
  • Operate machinery, including forklifts, to meet production demands.
  • Conduct weight checks every 30 minutes and record the data.
  • Label finished product pallets into inventory.
  • Maintain housekeeping within the assigned area and other plant regions when bagging is not required.
  • Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures as needed.
  • Monitors stretch wrapping equipment and replenish empty wrap rolls.
  • Ensure empty bags are stocked for the bag filler.
  • Verify product code dates and visually inspect products for foreign materials.
  • Ensure bags and pallets are free from damage and contamination.
  • Keep the work area clean according to GMP policies.
  • Assist technicians and supervisors as needed.
  • Follow accepted procedures and practices.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow all Quality, Environmental Health, and Safety (QEHS) policies, including HACCP compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prior experience with packaging and mobile equipment is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written English.
  • Knowledge of industrial environments is required.

Work Environment
  • Must be available for overtime as necessary.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and hi-visibility apparel are required.
  • Work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity, noise, and dust.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Able to pull, push, carry, and lift 50lb.
