Machine Operator at a Glance...

Machine Operators run and monitor manufacturing and packaging equipment to safely produce high-quality food products. This position may support the Beverages, Desserts, or Bakery departments based on business needs and available openings. Team members are responsible for equipment operation, quality checks, troubleshooting, food safety compliance, and maintaining production standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Work Schedule

Openings are available on 2nd (2:00pm-10:30pm) and 3rd shift (10:00pm-6:30am).

Overtime, including extended shifts, weekends, and holiday work, is frequently required based on production demands and business needs.

Employees should be prepared to work scheduled and mandatory overtime as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement.

Placement into a department and shift will be determined based on qualifications, experience, training requirements, and business needs.

  • Operate production and packaging equipment safely and efficiently while following standard work, safety requirements, GMPs, and food safety standards.
  • Perform start-up, changeover, line clearance, and shutdown activities.
  • Monitor machine performance and product flow; make adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and production output.
  • Complete quality checks and documentation, including weights, seals, codes, temperatures, and other product specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, clear jams, and perform minor adjustments while escalating more complex issues to Maintenance or Leadership.
  • Supply raw materials and packaging materials to equipment and assist with palletizing, depalletizing, and product movement as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production records and document downtime, quality checks, and production activity using required systems.
  • Identify and report conditions that could impact food safety, quality, employee safety, or equipment performance.
  • Maintain housekeeping, sanitation, and cleaning requirements to support a safe and organized work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with Leads, Supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and other support teams to ensure successful operation of the production line.
  • Successfully complete required training and support cross-training opportunities across departments.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, walkies, or forklifts, when trained and authorized.
