Description

Position summary

The System Administrator II is responsible for implementing and supporting all aspects of the public and private cloud environment that provides hosted voice and communications services to CallTower customers. This person will be a member of a team whose focus includes engineering and operations for Azure, Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, Entra, Active Directory, virtualization (Hyper-V and VMware), and other systems in Azure cloud and private datacenters and development labs. Specifically, the System Administrator II will focus on the infrastructure for these systems including servers, backups, monitoring, patching, automation, documentation and other maintenance. 


Position responsibilities:

Write and maintain documentation for operations procedures

Monitor servers and other data center devices and continually improve and expand monitoring

Design and implement Azure services, Windows and Linux systems

Support Azure and multiple private datacenters and associated IaaS and SaaS solutions.

Ensure the stability and security of Windows and Linux servers through patch management for the OS as well as hardware (drivers, firmware, BIOS, etc.)

Troubleshoot problems with servers and storage (hardware and software) 

Participate in monthly maintenance windows and the infrastructure team on-call rotation

Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and other Microsoft domain features

Maintain corporate laptops and the corporate infrastructure

Monitor capacity on all systems and work with other team members and the systems team to stay ahead of demand


Essential skills and experience:

Bachelor of Science in Information Technologies or additional, relevant work experience of 6 to 8 years

3+ years of experience progressive systems administration experience

Microsoft certification or demonstrable equivalent experience (and ability to earn Microsoft certifications as required)

Working knowledge of the Microsoft System Center suite (Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager)

Working knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V virtualization environments

Working knowledge of Storage solutions, SMB, iSCSI and NFS

Significant experience with Windows, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and other Windows features

Experience with Red Hat Linux or equivalent

Experience with Azure

Familiarity with Powershell and basic automation

Understanding of Windows server maintenance (OS patching, drivers, upgrades, migrations)

Understanding of industry standard servers and blades (specifically Cisco UCS)

Experience in a 24x7 customer-facing hosted services environment

Understanding of ITIL-like attitudes toward managing a data center (change/incident/problem management, documentation)

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Very strong and proven capability to take ownership of assigned systems 


 This pay range is a good-faith estimate of the compensation we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting/hire. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, geographic location, and business needs. This range does not include any include any bonus or incentive compensation if applicable.
