Description:ย The mission of the DISCOVERY Childrenโ€™s Museum is to foster a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive environment where all are invited to engage in playful and educational experiences that ignite a lifelong love of learning. The Museum offers visitors extraordinary learning experiences and enhanced school, public and extended programs and is a family-oriented and energetic educational destination.ย ย ย 

Job Responsibilities:ย ย 

This program provides youth with opportunities to enhance their own lives through education and a unique opportunity to gain work experience by interacting positively and engagingly with visitors of all ages and explaining hands-on exhibits. The work experience includes strengthening your awareness of professional etiquette, time management, making decisions, working with others, communicating with management, and periodicallyย participatingย in professional development workshops.ย ย 

Qualifications:ย 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTSย 

The internship is offered to currently enrolled high school studentsย agesย 15-17 years old who have completed 16 volunteer hours at DISCOVERY. Applicants must be active volunteers in good standing. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred.ย 

TIME COMMITMENTย 

The DISCOVERY Childrenโ€™s Museum Summerย YouthWorksย internship program is for three months and may be extended for anย additionalย six months. All incoming summer interns are part-time, working 21 โ€“ 28 hours weekly, May 22 โ€“ August 9, 2026.ย 

oย ย ย During summer, interns must be willing toย workย a โ€œflexible schedule.โ€.ย ย ย 

  • During theseย timeframes, interns will attend a team meeting and/or workshop at least once a month, either in person or virtually. These meetings are mandatory.ย 
  • Interns may also be scheduled for work member exhibition preview events and VIP Parties. These work assignments may be scheduled earlier or later than the standard operating hours.ย ย ย ย 
  • Preplanned family trips or other extended time off during the firstย 60 daysย of your internship must be discussed and approved upon accepting the internship.ย 
  • All time off requests will require a minimum of two weeks'ย advance notice in writing via email.ย 

ย Aย flexible scheduleย means working 21 โ€“ 28 hours per week, May 22, 2026ย โ€“ August 9, 2026ย ย 

Compensation:ย 

  • $12.00/hourย
