Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Active Military Only: Internship program for transitioning service members during their last 180 days of active duty, designed to learn the business processes of a Birkey's Farm Store Dealership. Train with managers and staff in daily processes and establish working knowledge of each position as it relates to each department's workflow. This internship is designed to expose participants to the operations of a full-service dealership with hands on work in service, sales, parts, and administrative support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Learn the Birkey's Core Values, business model, product line, and services offered. Learn each department and their functions. Other duties as assigned.
  1. Participate in on the job training in each department: Sales, Parts, Service, and Administration.
  2. Assist customers in the store and on the phone with questions.
  3. Develop a working knowledge of CASE IH products and Birkey's Services.
  4. Assist with equipment diagnostics, parts ordering, inventory, customer support, or sales operation based on rotation.
  5. Shadow experienced team members to learn daily operations and dealership best practices.
  6. Attend company led training sessions, safety meetings, and events.
  7. Complete evaluations with managers to determine performance and areas of improvement.
  8. Maintain clean and orderly shop area at all times.
  9. Develop working knowledge of warranty claims.
  10. Strive for innovative improvements that can be incorporated into existing practices.
  11. Learn and understand regulations and compliance as it relates to USDOT, OSHA, EPA, and EEOC/ADA.
  12. Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to company safety program at all times.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Individual must be an active member of the military. Should be able to set work priorities and work independently in the absence of supervision and be able to understand and carryout oral and written directions. Individual must have the ability to maintain a high degree of motivation in team members to retain the focus of providing the highest level of customer satisfaction.
The individual should have 2 - 4 years of related experience, steady work record, and must be able to perform each of the essential position functions.

  • Ability to get around the dealership and grounds for various tasks.

  • Ability to be on one's feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate equipment or other power equipment as necessary.
