WHAT WE NEED
Responsible for the management and coordination of the production team on assigned shift to meet customer needs and achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety and productivity. Leads key production initiatives such as safety, lean manufacturing programs, training and other production related activities as assigned.
This opening is for our 2nd Shift - 3:00pm - 11:30pm - Monday - Friday.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Leads production staff by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance.
• Maintains workflow by monitoring the steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; developing reporting procedures and systems; and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
• Utilizes machinery and personnel to get maximum production and efficiency for each production run. Works to reduce and eliminate all sources of waste including raw materials, time, and equipment failures. Evaluates performance and quality of product.
• Reviews final weekly production schedules to determine types, quantities, and specifications of products to plan department operations.
• Coordinates activities with the other shift leaders according to work order requirements, established priorities and availability of employees, parts, materials and equipment.
• Assures material, resources, and equipment preparedness in support of day-to-day production requirements.
• Plans staffing for each shift, defining line crewing based on production schedule, skillsets and planned/unplanned absences. Requests overtime from alternate shifts or temporary labor as necessary.
• Ensures adequate preparation for incoming shift, understanding prior shift performance through actions taken before shift meeting, to define and communicate priorities concisely.
• Comprehends and executes Production Supervisor Leader Standard Work, adjusting timing as necessary to support shift priorities, while delivering on leadership responsibilities.
• Analyzes production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Communicates performance and actions taken to improve performance to leadership and support teams throughout and at conclusion of the shift.
• Adjusts and communicates priorities throughout the shift based on performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
• Proactively escalates issues that cannot be solved by on-site team, per escalation protocol.
• Partners with all other plant teams, to ensure safety, quality and performance issues are addressed in real time.
• Evaluates and manages employee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance; providing clear, thorough, timely feedback; and addressing performance and employee relations problems and issues promptly. Thoroughly and sensitively provides clear and timely constructive feedback through verbal and written professional communication.
• Interviews and selects candidates to fill vacancies on assigned shift, in partnership with HR and supporting functions and cross-functionally as requested by other hiring managers.
• Conducts ongoing assessment and training needs identification, including maintaining the training / skill matrix and creation of development plans to build capabilities for employees assigned to their team, in effort to close skill gaps.
• Provides leadership and accountability for achieving targets for assigned areas of specialized responsibility such as safety, training, lean manufacturing, yield improvements, processing, and packaging continuous improvement.
• Ensures raw/packaging materials and floor condition are set up to standard for the current and oncoming shifts.
• Completes and analyzes Shift Reports and Work Orders daily and recommends continuous improvement initiatives for these production metrics with the Operations Manager/Production Manager.
• Routinely reports on availability of needed capabilities on shift, along with plans to close any gaps and requests for additional support as necessary.
• Assists the Operations Manager/Production Manager with supporting the variable budgets for production operations and with analyzing and justifying capital requirements.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • BS degree in Engineering strongly preferred with 1-2 years of co-op experience in a manufacturing setting, or a HS diploma plus five (5) years of manufacturing experience and two (2) years in a Production Supervisor (or equivalent) role.
  • Must possess a strong drive, demonstrating results-driven leadership to achieve desired outcomes and objectives.
  • Must possess a desire to receive mentorship and development for future opportunities in manufacturing leadership or process improvement leadership.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations (such as federal and state labor laws, EPA, OSHA, and food safety) needed.
  • Organization skills and willingness to assume accountability for plant practices required.
  • Results-driven leadership, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to build, coach, and motivate personnel, while holding employees accountable for results.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude required. Position requires hands-on capability to operate all machinery and equipment. Training will be provided.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills such as planning, organizing, staffing, leading, controlling, and communicating.
  • Continuous improvement oriented.
  • Due to SQF regulations, all employees must be able to fluently read, write, and converse in the English language.
  • Experience with RedZone and Ignition preferred.
  • Experience with SAP ERP preferred.
