Position Summary:

The Engineering Co-op supports Engineering in implementing lean manufacturing processes and supports efforts in maintaining the quality management system. Additional responsibilities include supporting DESTACOโ€™s quality initiatives by performing visual, and dimensional inspections coupled with documentation reviews to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards. This position has a key role in interacting effectively with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Materials departments. S/he will assist in establishing work measurement standards and play an active role in ensuring quality, safety, and lean manufacturing systems and processes.

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Creating Standard Work Instructions for production and safety initiatives using Sequence software
  • Creating Inspection Plans for machining using High QA software
  • Updating Machining job set-up sheets
  • Gage Inventory Management
  • Development of models in SolidWorks and 3D printing.
  • Assist in immediate containment and countermeasures to suppliers (internal/external) and customer quality complaints.
  • Conducting Gauge R&R and capability studies.
  • Assists in new equipment integration and new process documentation.
  • Tool and fixture design.
