Job Summary
The School of Aviation and Military Sciences seeks a dedicated and innovative scholar-practitioner to join our faculty. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic learning environment by delivering high-quality instruction, maintaining an active research agenda in aviation management, and providing meaningful service to the university and the broader aviation industry.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Applied Teaching and Mentorship
    • Instruction: Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in core aviation management areas such as Airline Operations, Airport Management, Airline Management, Aviation Strategic Management, and other related topic
    • Course Design: Develop and update curricula to reflect emerging technologies (e.g., AI/Machine Learning in aviation) and current FAA or international regulatory standards.
    • Format Flexibility: Provide instruction across various platforms, including traditional classrooms, hybrid models, and online learning management systems.
    • Workload: Typically involves a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year (4 courses per semester).
  • Industry Engagement and Professional Service
    • External Liaison: Act as the department's primary point of contact for industry advisory boards and corporate partners.
    • Professional Dissemination: While traditional research is not required, clinical faculty are expected to contribute to professional journals, trade publications, or industry conferences.
    • Program Assessment: Lead efforts to ensure the program meets rigorous industry standards.
  • Service and Professional Engagement
    • University Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university-level committees, as well as student recruitment and retention activities.
      • Manage the University's participation in the FAA Air Traffic Control Collegiate Training Initiative. (AT-CTI)
    • Advising: Provide academic and career mentoring to undergraduate Aviation Management majors.
    • Industry Liaison: Foster partnerships with aviation organizations, airports, and airlines to facilitate student internships and collaborative projects.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Prior experience in Part 121 or Part 141 training environments.
  • Record of teaching excellence at the collegiate or professional level.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) .

Education and Experience
  • Education: A Master's degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, or Business is typically the minimum requirement when combined with significant professional credentials.
  • Professional Experience: Extensive, high-level industry experience (e.g., 10-15+ years) in airline management, airport directorship, or military aviation.
  • Certifications: Active professional certifications such as an FAA Commercial Pilot license, Certified Member (C.M.) from AAAE, or Aircraft Dispatcher certificate.

Physical Requirements
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and virtually.
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Stamina to teach up to 24 hours weekly.
