Job DescriptionJob Description

General Job Description: Operate a material handling crane to safely load or offload vehicles and trailers, accurately sort ferrous materials, and process materials for transport.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. (Saturday, 8:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. during summer hours of operation).

Major Duties & Responsibilities: 1) Operate a Liebherr mobile material handling machine (with magnet or grappler attached) to move recycled ferrous (iron) materials. 2) Process large ferrous materials (including junk vehicles) by destruction/decommission. 3) Accurately organize ferrous materials into properly assorted piles in the yard. 4) Offload materials from customer/client vehicles and trailers. 5) Load processed materials onto tractor-trailers for transport. 6) Ensure product quality (load content and condition). 7) Work with other yard personnel to keep scrap piles properly sorted. 8) Deliver superior customer service. 9) Maintain equipment and assist maintenance in performing inspections. 10) Assist in accurately identifying ferrous material so that it is properly purchased. 11) Assist in maintaining a clean, organized yard. 12) Other general yard duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: 1) At least 2 years of experience operating a material handling machine or excavator. 2) Completed high school education or GED.

Qualifications: 1) Experience in the recycling industry.
