Job description

We are actively seeking a talented Machine Design Engineer for a permanent position located near Kalamazoo, MI. Join a dynamic team specializing in the design and engineering of custom machine systems for automation, process equipment, and material handling applications.
Position Overview:
As a Lead Machine Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and engineering special machine systems from concept through completion. This position offers the opportunity to lead and mentor other engineers, contributing to the growth and success of the engineering team.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and project engineer custom machine systems using engineering principles and mechanical design expertise.
  • Mentor and lead other Machine Designers and Detailers to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Conceptualize and develop designs, seeing projects through from initial concept to final implementation.
  • Create detailed models and drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.
  • Size mechanical components such as pumps, gears, bearings, hydraulics, conveyors, and piping.
  • Review bid specifications, detailed drawings, technical manuals, and bills of materials.
  • Provide support during production and assist in addressing customer needs and inquiries.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; relevant experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience in machine design, preferably in automation, process equipment, or material handling systems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks; experience with Inventor, Creo, ProE, AutoCAD, or other 3D software is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Technical proficiency, team-oriented mindset, and keen attention to detail.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
