Senior Land Surveyor, Construction
Folsom, CA | Full-Time
Salary: $128,000-$190,000 DOE + Annual Bonus
Help deliver the infrastructure that keeps California moving. R.E.Y. Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our Folsom team.
We're looking for a survey professional who thrives in heavy civil construction and has extensive experience with construction calculations, machine control, roadway geometry, grading, utility improvements, and field coordination.
You'll serve as a technical leader, working alongside our Principal Surveyor to support complex infrastructure projects while mentoring the next generation of survey professionals. If you enjoy solving construction challenges, collaborating with contractors, and producing accurate, construction-ready deliverables, we'd love to meet you.What You'll Do
As a Senior Construction Surveyor, you'll play a critical role in supporting major infrastructure and heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through final as-builts.
Responsibilities include:
  • Lead construction surveying efforts for roadway, utility, grading, bridge, and heavy civil projects
  • Perform and review complex construction calculations, alignments, grading models, machine control files, and staking data
  • Prepare and verify construction layouts, control networks, earthwork quantities, and as-built surveys
  • Ensure survey deliverables meet contract requirements, project specifications, and R.E.Y.'s quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with contractors, engineers, inspectors, project managers, and field crews throughout construction
  • Manage project schedules, priorities, and survey deliverables for multiple active construction projects
  • Mentor survey technicians, crew chiefs, and surveyors-in-training while promoting technical excellence and safety
  • Help improve construction workflows, quality control procedures, and surveying best practices across the department
What We're Looking For
Required
  • Approximately 10+ years of construction or heavy civil surveying experience
  • Extensive experience performing construction calculations for roadway, grading, utility, and infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of construction staking, machine control, earthwork quantities, and field verification
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with contractors, engineers, and project teams
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior survey professionals

Preferred
  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License
  • Experience supporting Caltrans, municipal, transportation, or other large public infrastructure projects
  • Experience developing machine control models and digital construction workflows
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes for construction survey deliverables
  • Passion for mentoring future survey professionals and contributing to continuous improvement
