Job description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
  • Plan machine set ups, program necessary information into control system, position work piece and operate various CNC machine through production runs to form specified quantities of piece parts to specified tolerances. Deburr parts as needed.
  • Monitor machine functions to ensure that parts are manufactured to defined specifications.
  • Perform first piece inspections and make necessary adjustment to machine to ensure parts are machined to designated tolerances. Complete first piece inspection documents as required.
  • Perform inspection, preventative maintenance and ensure machines are operating optimally.
  • Communicate with managers, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area complying with all 5S initiatives.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability to input and scan work order data into MRP/JDE system using RF scanner, keyboard and mouse.
  • Follow all procedures and processes in accordance to in order to build a defect-free product. Complete required in-process inspection, repair any defects found and electronically process rejected parts in accordance with established procedure
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required 
  • Enrolled as active student in formal CNC Machining program
  • Be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use pallet jack and overhead crane preferred.

Hourly pay begins at $21/hr. While in the apprentice program, the employee will receive pay increases upon the completion of each semester of coursework. Additionally, at the completion of the schooling at Elgin Community College, the employee will receive an additional pay increase.
