POSITION:
LECTURER OPENINGS IN ENGLISH: The Department of English invites applications for multiple, on-going, Lecturer appointments. Lecturers appointed to these positions will teach primarily in the areas of composition and critical thinking (with argumentative writing emphasis). There may also be openings in general education literature and humanities survey courses, as well as courses in technical and professional writing. Well-qualified lecturers with suitable preparation and interest will be considered for available literature, humanities and/or technical /professional writing courses. This position is contingent upon availability of authorized funding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
M.A. in English or related field is required. Other minimum qualifications include: demonstrated success in community college or university-level teaching appointments emphasizing writing instruction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in English or related field. Other preferred qualifications include: evidence of successful methods and effective teaching in composition and critical thinking courses; evidence of effective teaching in literature or humanities courses.

COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.
Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Salary rates for California State University Lecturers (Academic Year) can be found in the schedules linked below.
