The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a M365 Engineering Manager to guide a team of technical professionals supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This role focuses heavily on leadership, project management, oversight of O&M activities, and coordination of multiple M365-related projects of varying complexity. You will directly supervise 5-8 team members and serve as a primary interface with DHS stakeholders, program leadership, and cross-functional teams.
The M365 Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of M365 engineers and developers in the delivery of enterprise-wide services and solutions. This role emphasizes people management, project oversight, resource coordination, and customer engagement rather than deep hands-on engineering. The manager ensures operational excellence, consistent execution, and adherence to DHS governance standards while driving continual service improvement across the M365 environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide active, engaged leadership focused on team performance, delivery quality, and meeting commitments.
  • Manage and mentor M365 engineers and developers, ensuring clear expectations and accountability.
  • Create and distribute weekly status reports highlighting accomplishments, risks, and productivity metrics.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and drive continual service improvement (CSI) initiatives through completion.
  • Coordinate closely with the Scrum Master and development teams to ensure proper staffing, prioritization, and task alignment.
  • Serve as an escalation point for both DHS and technical staff, removing blockers and guiding resolution efforts.
  • Act as liaison to DHS customers and program functional leads, ensuring clear communication and aligned expectations.
  • Oversee project schedules, deliverables, and milestone achievement; maintain accurate documentation and provide routine updates.
  • Ensure all DHS-defined governance, compliance, and project standards are consistently implemented.
  • Engage directly with end users, stakeholders, and process owners to document business needs and validate completed deliverables.
  • Oversee quality of architectural artifacts and project-related documentation within your scope.
  • Exhibit proactive customer-focused behavior, providing timely updates and anticipating stakeholder needs.

Level Description
  • Manages experienced professionals who work independently and handle complex assignments.
  • Executes policy and strategy within a short-term (≤1 year) planning horizon.
  • Addresses complex, multi-department problems requiring investigation, analysis, and informed decision-making.
  • Influences individuals beyond immediate team regarding policies and practices; may be a recognized SME.
  • Contributes measurable impact to operational plans, process improvements, and team performance.
  • May manage projects and processes within a defined budget; may contribute to budget planning.

Leadership & Talent Management
  • Leads a small to mid-sized team of seasoned professionals; responsible for work review and direction.
  • Holds or significantly influences decisions related to hiring, performance management, promotions, and rewards.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Strong applied knowledge in project execution, operational management, and team leadership.
  • Advanced understanding of enterprise IT environments and M365 service delivery.
  • Typically holds a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant leadership experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Ability to obtain DHS EOD Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or supervising an M365 engineering or development team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years working with Microsoft platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff across business, technical, and management levels.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired:
  • Experience leveraging Jira and Confluence for project and workflow management.
