Job Details
With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical team members in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. May collaborate with all clinical departments (a/k/a/telehealth) and designated staff at the patient's site for the purpose of facilitating and assisting with telehealth encounters between patients and providers.

  • Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners.
  • Performs validated and designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs under direction of licensed clinical team members.
  • Actively promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment.
  • Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations.
  • Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call light or pages promptly.
  • May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs.
  • May be required, to facilitate, under the direction of the distant provider, a clinical exam including the utilization of any required peripheral devices (e.g. electronic stethescope), other technology (e.g. video conferencing equipment) and software (e.g. Epic, Vidyo, etc) ensuring a comprehensive virtual care encounter is conducted.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team.
  • Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role.
  • Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
  • Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care.
  • Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association Upon Hire
