This is a high-visibility, high-responsibility assignment requiring exceptional professionalism, attention to detail, situational awareness, and customer-service skills. The selected officer will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment for employees, customers, merchandise, and the facility while representing both the security company and client at a luxury-retail standard.

Schedule: 10:15 AM – 7:00 PM
Position: Armed Security Officer
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (depending on available schedule)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • Valid California BSIS Guard Card
  • Valid California BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit
  • Legally owned and properly registered duty firearm
  • Appropriate ballistic/body armor
  • Professional duty belt and required duty equipment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Professional appearance and grooming
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the entire assignment
  • Ability to stand and remain mobile for extended periods
  • Ability to pass all company and client screening requirements

Luxury retail, jewelry store, executive protection, high-value asset protection, or similar security experience is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Opening & Closing Security

  • Assist store management with the initial inventory verification/count of merchandise displayed on the sales floor before opening.
  • Assist with end-of-day inventory verification/count before closing.
  • Maintain heightened awareness during opening and closing procedures, when the location may be particularly vulnerable.
  • Observe the surrounding area before employees enter or exit the facility.
  • Immediately report discrepancies, suspicious circumstances, or security concerns to management according to established procedures.

Access Control

  • Control customer and visitor access through the store’s remote-entry system.
  • Maintain accountability and awareness of individuals entering and exiting the location.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access to restricted or secured areas.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, sales-floor activity, and other designated areas.
  • Maintain awareness of occupancy and unusual patterns of entry or exit.

Threat Detection & Prevention

  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness at all times.
  • Identify suspicious behavior, potential surveillance, casing activity, organized retail crime indicators, and other potential threats.
  • Observe individuals, vehicles, and activity around the location that may present a security concern.
  • Position yourself strategically to maintain visibility of customers, employees, entrances, exits, and high-value merchandise.
  • Recognize potential threats before they escalate whenever reasonably possible.
  • Immediately communicate significant security concerns to store management and company supervision.

Armed Security & Emergency Response

  • Maintain control and security of all issued or personally owned duty equipment.
  • Respond professionally to security incidents, disturbances, emergencies, and other situations within the officer’s training and legal authority.
  • Follow established procedures regarding robbery, burglary, suspicious persons, medical emergencies, fire alarms, evacuations, and law-enforcement response.
  • Contact law enforcement or emergency services when required by company/client procedures or circumstances.
  • Preserve incident scenes and relevant information following significant events.
  • Complete accurate and detailed incident reports when necessary.

Customer Service & Professionalism

This is a luxury retail environment. The officer must be able to provide strong security without creating an unnecessarily intimidating or unwelcoming atmosphere.

The officer is expected to:

  • Greet and interact professionally with customers when appropriate.
  • Maintain a polished, professional appearance.
  • Communicate respectfully with customers, employees, management, vendors, and law enforcement.
  • Remain calm and composed during stressful situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding store operations, security procedures, merchandise, customers, and employees.
  • Avoid unnecessary distractions, including excessive personal phone use while on duty.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who understands that armed security at a luxury jewelry store is primarily about prevention, observation, deterrence, and professionalism.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Highly observant
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Calm under pressure
  • Professionally groomed
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Confident without being confrontational
  • Comfortable protecting high-value assets
  • Experienced working around affluent clientele
  • Capable of identifying unusual behavior without profiling or making assumptions
  • Able to follow detailed post orders and client procedures
  • Able to document incidents clearly and professionally

Important

This is not a warm-body security position.

Officers assigned to this location are expected to remain attentive, engaged, and security-focused throughout the shift. Candidates who routinely use their phones, sit unnecessarily, become distracted, or fail to maintain situational awareness will not be a good fit for this assignment.

All armed duties must be performed in accordance with California law, BSIS requirements, Secure Net Alliance policies, client post orders, and the officer’s training and licensing.
