Job description

SUMMARY:

The Server provides refined, engaging, and anticipatory service across the resort’s dining outlets — including restaurant, pool, beach, and special event areas. This role delivers Forbes Five-Star–aligned guest experiences through expert product knowledge, attentive service, and graceful presentation. The Server ensures every guest interaction reflects the resort’s culture of genuine hospitality and professionalism while maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and teamwork.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides warm, professional, and anticipatory service in accordance with Forbes and resort standards.
  • Greets guests promptly, presents menus, and guides them through food and beverage selections with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of menu items, ingredients, allergens, wines, and cocktails to personalize recommendations and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Takes, inputs, and confirms guest orders accurately using the POS system; verifies modifications and special requests with the kitchen and bar.
  • Delivers food and beverages promptly and ensures correct presentation, temperature, and timing.
  • Performs quality checks to confirm guest satisfaction throughout each stage of service, resolving concerns gracefully and proactively.
  • Sets up, maintains, and breaks down side stations, service areas, and buffet setups according to daily outlet requirements.
  • Performs opening, closing and weekly duties assigned.
  • Ensures all serviceware, glassware, and silverware are spotless, polished, and properly aligned.
  • Follows billing, and check procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborates with the Server Assistant team to ensure smooth pacing and table turnover while maintaining service flow and attention to detail.
  • Keeps pool, beach, and outdoor service areas organized, clean, and inviting — including furniture arrangement, table setup, and towel presentation in accordance with resort standards.
  • Ensures compliance with towel and equipment inventory procedures; reports shortages or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Participates in daily pre-shift briefings and ongoing training sessions to stay current on Forbes expectations, safety, and product updates.
  • Adheres to opening, closing, and side work procedures to ensure readiness for service.
  • Demonstrates sustainability awareness in daily operations (waste reduction, recycling, energy mindfulness).
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Food & Beverage division.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality coursework preferred.
  • Minimum one year of prior restaurant, resort, or luxury hotel service experience.
  • Knowledge of wine, spirits, and mixology preferred.
  • Food safety certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

REQUIREMENTS

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely; occasional heavier lifting with assistance.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and handling of trays and service items.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.

Communication

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to convey information clearly to guests and team members.
  • Proficient in POS systems (MICROS or equivalent) and handheld ordering devices.

Behavioral Competencies

  • Exhibits genuine warmth, attentiveness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Anticipates guest needs and acts proactively rather than reactively.
  • Maintains calm, polished composure in high-volume settings.
  • Works collaboratively with all team members to achieve seamless service delivery.
  • Embodies the resort's values of excellence, respect, and sincere hospitality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced, guest-facing luxury resort setting.
  • Moderate to high noise levels depending on outlet and occupancy.

  • Must maintain Forbes-aligned grooming, uniform, and presentation standards at all times.

  • Demonstrates genuine engagement, eye contact, and confident body language.
  • Anticipates guest preferences and personalizes service accordingly.
