Job description

About Lucid
At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid's proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our "Compromise Nothing™" approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.
We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what's possible and shape the future of mobility.
NPI Project Engineer II
Engineering | Casa Grande, AZ | Full-Time
About Lucid
At Lucid, we are creating an electric future without compromise. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. We build world-class vehicles by pushing performance, efficiency, and design beyond industry limits, setting new standards with vehicles like Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity.
The people here-engineers, designers, operators, and builders-came from across industries and around the world because they wanted to work on a harder problem. They care deeply about mastering their craft and delivering work they're proud of. We trust you to take ownership, push beyond what is expected, and help write the playbook for what comes next.
By refusing to settle, you help shape the future of electric mobility and prove what's possible when craft and ambition refuse to compromise each other.
The Role
Launching a new vehicle is one of the most complex challenges in manufacturing, and this role exists to ensure exterior systems and components are ready for production without disrupting operations. As an NPI Project Engineer II, Exteriors, you will lead the execution of new product introductions and engineering changes from development through production implementation, ensuring materials, systems, manufacturing processes, and cross-functional teams are aligned before launch.
Success in the first 12 months means supporting flawless implementation of exterior product changes, improving launch readiness through disciplined execution, and helping teams identify and resolve risks before they impact production.
What You'll Own
New Product Introduction Execution: Support pre-validation builds, pre-production activities, and Start of Production (SOP) launches for new vehicle programs and exterior product changes.
Engineering Change Implementation: Evaluate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) by assessing implementation timing, material availability, manufacturing impact, system readiness, and operational feasibility.
Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) Readiness: Create, maintain, validate, and manage Manufacturing Bills of Materials to ensure accurate production execution.
Cross-Functional Launch Coordination: Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Material Planning, Logistics, Production Control, Quality, Supplier Industrialization, and Operations teams.
Material & System Readiness: Track critical material availability and verify readiness across manufacturing and business systems.
Touch to Check (TTC) Management: Coordinate Touch to Check activities, including planning, inspections, action tracking, and readiness confirmation.
Risk Management & Communication: Identify launch risks, drive action plans, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Support improvements to NPI processes, launch methodologies, and operational tools.
What You Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Engineering, Program Launch, Change Management, MBOM Management, or related activities.
  • Working knowledge of MBOM structures and engineering change management processes.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams in a manufacturing or product launch environment.
  • Ability to assess risks, prioritize actions, and drive issue resolution.
  • Strong project management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting program milestones and launches.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.

Preferred
  • Experience supporting exterior vehicle systems, body engineering, closures, trim, or related automotive products.
  • Automotive or electric vehicle manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting product launches through Start of Production (SOP).
  • Familiarity with PLM, ERP, and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of launch readiness processes, cutover planning, and production change implementation.
