As a lube technician, you inspect, repair, and service an automotive vehicle. Lube technicians typically focus on tires instead of vehicles as a whole, and on a normal day, you may be asked to install, rotate, balance, or repair tires for each customer. Lube technicians are also responsible for selecting parts, interacting with customers, and assisting other mechanics as necessary. Many lube technicians focus on quick lube services, which emphasize getting tires inspected and repaired as quickly as possible. Lube technicians often work in unpredictable weather conditions, and on occasion may travel outside of a repair facility to provide the service a customer needs.
