Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.

  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or fork truck.

  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.

  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.

  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.

  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.

  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.

  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.

  • Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Slab and grind plastic as needed.
  • Give Winder Operators of the shift required breaks.
  • Assist on start-ups, changeovers, and web breaks as needed.
  • Empty all plant tipper and garbage cans regularly.
  • Ensure all batteries are being charged when not in use and change batteries for walkies as needed.
  • Keep the slabbers/ stocked with scrap rolls.
  • Make and distribute silicone to all lines required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This position requires the ability to be able to stand and walk for more then 2/3 of the time, the ability to talk and hear for up to 2/3 of the time, the ability to use hands, handle or feel, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms, taste or smell for up to 1/3 of the time.
  • This position requires the ability to be able to lift up to 25 pounds more then 2/3 of the time
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • This position requires PPE to be worn based on the task being performed.
  • This position requires the ability to work near moving mechanical parts for more then 2/3 of the time.
  • This position requires the ability to work in loud noise level areas (examples: metal can manufacturing, department, large earth-moving equipment).
  • This position requires the ability to work in high, precarious places and around fumes or airborne particles for up to 1/3 of the time.

This position requires the following vision abilities:

  • Close Vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
  • Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
  • Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)
  • Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  • Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires frequent exposure to plant environment including extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
