This position is an unclassified position in the Office of Sponsored Programs at LSU. The Grant/Contract Specialist I supports the various pre-award and non-financial post award activities of sponsored program administration.

Job Responsibilities:

Pre-Award Activities - Proposal Review/Approval: Provide guidance, review, approve and submit proposals in accordance with applicable University policies and procedures, state and federal statutes and regulations, and sponsor guidelines. (70%)

Pre-Award Activities - Award Review/Approval: Review and approve standard federal and state grants and contracts in accordance with applicable University policies and procedures, state and federal statutes and regulations, and sponsor guidelines. (15%)

Post-Award and Other Activities: Review and approve standard post award modifications (no cost extensions, requests for increased funding, rebudgeting, etc.) and prepare standard subawards in accordance with applicable University policies and procedures, state and federal statutes and regulations, and sponsor guidelines. (10%)

Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 1 year of experience; demonstrated communication and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to coordinate and direct multiple projects simultaneously and to interact with individuals at multiple levels and disciplines; demonstrated computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field and 3 or more years of experience; proven ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
