How much do ls dyna jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 28, 2026, the average yearly pay for ls dyna in the United States is $94,516.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $64,000.00 and $115,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What types of projects or industries commonly use LS-DYNA engineers, and what does a typical day look like in this role?

LS-DYNA engineers are most often employed in automotive, aerospace, defense, and manufacturing industries, working on projects involving crash analysis, impact simulations, and structural optimization. A typical day involves building and running finite element models, analyzing simulation results, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with design and testing teams to improve product safety and performance. You may work both independently on simulations and closely with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot issues and iterate on designs. The working environment is generally office-based, though some roles may involve visits to test facilities or manufacturing sites as projects require. This dynamic mix offers great opportunities to develop specialized expertise and advance into senior simulation, technical lead, or project management roles over time.

What is an LS-DYNA job?

An LS-DYNA job typically involves working with LS-DYNA, an advanced finite element analysis (FEA) software used for simulating complex real-world problems, such as crash testing, impact analysis, and material deformation. Professionals in this role, such as engineers or analysts, develop simulations, validate models, and interpret results to improve designs and enhance product safety. These jobs are common in industries like automotive, aerospace, and defense, where high-accuracy simulations are critical for performance evaluation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Ls Dyna position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an LS-DYNA engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering or a related field, with expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) and crash or impact simulation. Proficiency in using LS-DYNA software, pre- and post-processing tools such as ANSA or HyperMesh, and relevant certifications in CAE tools are highly valuable. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication skills set top professionals apart in this role. These competencies are essential for delivering accurate simulations, interpreting results, and collaborating effectively on complex engineering projects.

Job description

This position is an opportunity for an engineer to join our BCP structural analysis team as a structural analyst. This global team is primarily US-based, but also has engineers in the UK and India.
You will be responsible for evaluating and developing heavy structures, including main frames, linkages, and undercarriages. You will use finite element analysis tools to develop components to meet structural goals of strength, stiffness, fatigue life and natural frequency while meeting manufacturing and cost constraints. You will work closely with design teams to develop new product and resolve field issues. Your work will include building, solving, and correlating finite element models, as well as supporting validation tests and processing test data. You will demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and determination to resolve issues while maintaining high quality standards.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Building and running FEA models using NASTRAN, LS-Dyna, and Creo-Simulate. Typical projects will involve static linear and non-linear analysis solutions, with some dynamic impact analysis.
• Working with designers and contributing own ideas to develop efficient solutions to structural issues.
• Supporting validation testing with gage maps and data analysis.
• Correlation of FEA models to match test data.
• Working with analysis team to continually improve analysis efficiency and quality.
• Involving other engineers and technical resources to address detailed technical problems.
• Clearly communicating analysis results through verbal presentations and written reports.
Skills and Experience:
• Engineering bachelor's degree.
• Familiarity with FEA model building and results interpretation.
• Experience with weld/metal fatigue, dynamics, vibrations, modal testing, isolation systems, digital signal processing or fatigue is not necessary but is highly desired.
• Ability to understand detailed drawings and technical specifications.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Team player with the ability to interact positively with all functions and organisation levels.
• Self-starting, with a natural sense of urgency.
• Productive and able to manage own work.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Flexibility and ability to operate under pressure.
