POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the building; supervising the custodial team; communicating with building staff regarding cleaning, repairs, or special events;performing minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work; maintaining,operating and testing building systems; ordering custodial and maintenance supplies; and maintaining and monitoring the building custodial and maintenance supply budgets.
DUTIES:
  • Clean building interior by vacuuming, mopping, waxing, buffing, stripping floors and cleaning walls, windows, restrooms, mirrors, and other common areas. Maintain the site by shoveling snow, weeding, pruning trees,trimming hedges, raking leaves, picking up trash, and sweeping sidewalks.
  • Supervise custodial team and meet with teachers and building administrators to discuss repair requests and plan work for upcoming special events. Schedule staff and overtime.
  • Replace ballasts, light tubes, outlets, switches, test fuses, and breakers. Perform other minor electrical work as needed.
  • Unclog toilets, urinals, sinks, and drains. Replace or rebuild flush valves and faucets. Perform other minor plumbing work as needed.
  • Repair shelving, desks, cabinet doors, tables, and chairs. Patch walls, paint,replace ceiling tiles and perform other carpentry as needed.
  • Perform event set-up and assist other district maintenance employees with their duties as needed.
  • Operate and test the fire alarm system; security system; fire extinguishers; gas, water and electrical shutoffs as dictated by District policy.
  • Order custodial and maintenance supplies. Maintain and monitor buildingcustodial and maintenance supply budgets by comparing actua lexpenditures with budgeted expenditures.

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Criminal background check required for hire

Hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Full time, year round position.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $22.98 per hour + benefits. Additional compensation is determined based on relevant experience.
