Description:

Licensed Practical Nurse LPN

  • This LPN will be working in the Emergency Department at Mount Carmel St. Ann's two 12-hour shifts per week from 10am - 10:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

  • Prior hospital and/or Emergency Department experience preferred.

Position Purpose:

The Licensed Practical Nurse LPN - with Meds, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functioning in the spirit of teamwork, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

What you will do:

  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.

  • Communicates pertinent clinical information to appropriate members of the patient care team. Keeps patient/family appraised/updated.

  • Performs treatments and procedures according to approved standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Administers medications, according to the organization’s standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.

  • Documents accurately and completely pertinent information/data in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.

  • Directs unlicensed staff in work related activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates the ability to manage the patient assignment effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of School of Practical Nursing.

  • Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Ohio. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacology Course with NAPNES Certification, OOPNES Certification or Ohio Board of Nursing Card. Successful completion of an LPN IV therapy course with proof of certification.
