Job description

DESCRIPTION: The Therapist / Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) provides comprehensive therapeutic and clinical services to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring behavioral health disorders. This role is responsible for conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, facilitating individual and group therapy, maintaining clinical documentation, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Therapists who hold associate-level licensure (e.g., LAC, LMSW) will work under the supervision of an independently licensed BHP, while independently licensed professionals (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LISAC) may provide therapy, diagnostics, and clinical oversight independently in accordance with Arizona state regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed, motivational interviewing, etc.).
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and support for clients experiencing acute emotional or behavioral distress.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) per ADHS, AHCCCS, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and discharge planning to ensure coordinated care.
  • Monitor and document client progress, updating treatment plans and goals as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide psychoeducation and support to clients and families on relapse prevention, coping strategies, and emotional wellness.
  • Uphold professional ethics, boundaries, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional codes of conduct.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioral health field required.
  • Must hold or be eligible for one of the following Arizona licenses through Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE):
  • Associate LAC (Licensed Associate Counselor), LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)
  • Independent Licensure/BHP: LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LISAC (Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor)
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in related field preferred
  • CPR/FA Certification - to be obtained within first 90 days
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card - to be obtained within first 90 days
  • Handle with Care - to be obtained within first 90 days
  • Successful clearance of annual MVR required if applicable
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Successful clearance of TB PPD Test upon hire and annual screening for TB symptoms
  • Associate level therapist - Attending clinical supervision with independently licensed staff once every 2 weeks worked for a minimum of 2 sessions per month.
