JOB SUMMARY

We're looking for someone who likes active and hands-on work to join us as a Delivery Driver at Value Plus Flooring. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager and works at our new Mendota Heights location, near I-494 and Highway 55. In this role, you'll load/unload, distribute, and deliver materials to construction sites and residences. The Delivery Driver also assists with warehouse duties, including basic maintenance and picking orders. The Delivery Driver works a full-time, first-shift schedule, Monday to Friday. Training provided.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drive 26-foot box truck on scheduled local and regional delivery route with occasional unscheduled stops and changes. May drive other vehicles to deliver materials, such as company vans.
  • Accurately unload materials to job sites based on orders and work tickets.
  • Assist with loading trucks and vehicles.
  • May pick up materials from vendors and may load materials into customer vehicle.
  • Communicate in a courteous manner with customers throughout the delivery.
  • Troubleshoot any questions or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Document or communicate status of delivery, including changes, with manager.
  • Assist with picking and staging orders in the warehouse for subcontractor pickups and job site deliveries.
  • Assist with sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Assist with warehouse maintenance, focusing on a clean and organized work area.
  • May work on carpet cutting equipment and may assist with special projects related to inventory.
  • Complete daily general/safety inspections of vehicles and material handling equipment (forklifts).
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position  carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company  guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory  responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;  planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;  rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and  resolving problems.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To  perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform  each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 2+ years of work experience in construction quality assurance or managing installation teams.
  • Previous work experience in construction interior finishes preferred (flooring, cabinets, countertops, and/or appliances).
  • Previous work experience reading and analyzing blueprints. 
  • Previous work experience in customer service and/or supporting sales or project teams.
  • Previous work experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a valid driver license and meet our minimum standards  following a Motor Vehicle Record review at time of job offer and at  regular intervals while employed. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without restriction and on a regular basis.
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing for  training and project updates and to independently handle external and  internal requests.
  • Math skills acquired through high school  diploma or equivalent to record measurements, calculate fractions and  percentages, convert square feet and square yards, and understand basic  financial transactions.
