POSITION SUMMARY
Barton Malow is seeking a Driver to support the Field Services Operations team and company-wide logistics needs from our Oak Park, Michigan office. The Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, tools, equipment, and other assets to and from construction sites, vendor locations, warehouses, and company facilities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects have the equipment and resources necessary to maintain operational schedules and productivity.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial vehicles and trailers, a strong commitment to safety, and a thorough understanding of cargo securement requirements and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Experience transporting construction equipment using flatbed and lowboy trailers is preferred.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Transport materials, tools, equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently to construction projects and company facilities.
  • Deliver equipment and materials in a timely manner to support project schedules and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all transported loads are properly secured and comply with applicable DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Maintain trucks and trailers in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
  • Ensure assigned vehicles are stocked with appropriate chains, binders, straps, tarps, and required safety equipment.
  • Operate various company vehicles, including smaller trucks, to accommodate pickup and delivery requirements on an as-needed basis.
  • Load, unload, and assist with the movement and staging of equipment and materials as required.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics activities with Field Services Operations personnel, project teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Verify shipping documentation and maintain accurate inspection records, mileage logs, and delivery paperwork.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues, equipment damage, accidents, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies, DOT regulations, and federal, state, and local transportation requirements.
  • Support company logistics initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to meet all DOT medical certification and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience operating commercial trucks and trailers in a construction, transportation, logistics, or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, cargo securement practices, and transportation safety requirements.
  • Experience operating flatbed trucks and/or hauling construction equipment using lowboy trailers preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment, construction site operations, and material handling practices.
  • Forklift and other material handling equipment experience preferred.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, attention to detail, and safe driving practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Certification is considered an asset.
