What is a lot driver?

Lot Drivers are responsible for moving vehicles within a dealership lot, auction site, or storage area. Their main duties include parking, organizing, and relocating cars to ensure efficient use of space and easy vehicle access. Lot Drivers may also inspect vehicles for damage, assist with inventory management, and sometimes support vehicle delivery or pickup processes. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to drive various types of vehicles, and a valid driver's license.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a lot driver?

To thrive as a Lot Driver, you need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and familiarity with various vehicle types. Experience with vehicle tracking systems and basic inspection tools is often required. Attention to detail, reliability, and strong time management are important soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure vehicles are moved safely and efficiently, supporting smooth lot operations and customer satisfaction.

What are the typical work conditions and team dynamics for a lot driver?

Lot Drivers usually work outdoors in all weather conditions, moving vehicles within large lots or dealership areas. The role often involves working as part of a close-knit team under the supervision of a lot manager, requiring good communication and coordination to ensure vehicles are correctly positioned and accounted for. Daily tasks can include inspecting vehicles, documenting locations, and occasionally interacting with customers or service staff. Adaptability and a focus on safety are important, as the pace can change quickly depending on dealership needs or delivery schedules.
