Job description

Description:

Overview:

Best Version Media was founded in 2007 and now serves over 1,300 communities across the U.S. and Canada. We connect local businesses to customers with a suite of innovative print and digital solutions. Our print magazines, powered by our advertisers and readers, are tailored to the communities we serve by showcasing local families, nonprofits, events, and more. Our digital advertising works with our print campaigns to build brand awareness and help businesses expand their online reach with local customers. We also offer convenient tools to help businesses manage their online presence and enhance searchability.

Our vision is to unite the hearts and minds of communities – one person, one home, one business at a time. We value family, teamwork, and an open exchange of ideas as we strive to become the best versions of ourselves. Our award-winning culture has been recognized countless times by organizations like Fortune, Glassdoor, Great Place to Work, and more.

Job Summary:

BVM Digital powers a rapidly expanding portfolio of digital products across 1,300+ local communities—spanning websites, digital advertising, SEO, client dashboards, lead generation, and CRM systems. Each product generates rich, real-world signals about local business success. We are looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to own that entire data value chain end-to-end, transforming raw product signals into a living data system and becoming the source of truth for our business.

This is a rare dual-impact role that bridges system architecture and strategic business analysis. You won't just build pipelines and pass off the numbers, nor will you analyze models created by someone else—you will own the full chain. In your first few months, your primary focus will be building the foundation: data ingestion, dbt modeling, pipeline orchestration, and cross-product entity resolution. Once established, your center of gravity shifts to strategic leadership: serving as the primary quantitative voice alongside Product, Operations, and executive leadership to answer critical business questions and shape our strategic roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain automated pipelines that bring web, ad, SEO, lead, and CRM data into BigQuery.
  • Create clean dimensional models, dbt transformations, and data quality tests for fast, accurate querying.
  • Manage pipeline orchestration, third-party API integrations, backfills, and system freshness alerts.
  • Solve cross-product entity resolution to consistently connect advertiser, publisher, and community data.
  • Build Looker Studio dashboards and govern standardized, company-wide KPI definitions.
  • Analyze product performance, retention, and user drop-off points to deliver clear strategic recommendations to leadership.
Requirements:

Skills and Requirements:

  • 6+ years in analytics engineering or data engineering with end-to-end ownership.
  • Expert SQL & Data Modeling: Deep knowledge of dimensional design, grain discipline, and query tuning.
  • Technical Stack: Hands-on experience with BigQuery (or Snowflake/Redshift), dbt, Python, and orchestrators (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
  • Analytics & Tooling: Proficiency with GA4, GTM, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Looker Studio.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Ability to translate complex analysis into plain-language recommendations for senior leadership.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Prior experience as the first analytics hire, building an organization's initial foundation.
  • Proven track record of joining CRM data to marketing and product metrics at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with reverse ETL, attribution modeling, or semantic layer deployment.
  • Industry background in digital advertising, media, agencies, or local marketing.
  • Active use of AI tools to accelerate data modeling, documentation, and analysis.

Build the foundation, tell the story, and drive the decision. Apply today.
