Long Term Contract information

What is a long term contract?

A long term contract job is a position where an employee or contractor is hired for a fixed period that typically lasts several months to a few years. Unlike permanent roles, long term contracts have a defined end date and may offer fewer benefits, but they can provide job security for the duration of the contract. These positions are common in industries like IT, construction, and healthcare, where project-based or time-limited work is needed. Long term contracts can be a good option for those seeking stability without a permanent commitment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a long term contract role?

To thrive in a Long-Term Contract role, you need expertise relevant to the contract's field, a proven track record, and often a bachelor's degree or higher. Familiarity with industry-specific software, project management tools, and sometimes professional certifications are typically required. Strong communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are important soft skills for building client relationships and meeting long-term objectives. These skills and qualifications are crucial for sustained performance, reliability, and delivering consistent value over the contract duration.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working on long term contract roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in long-term contract roles often face challenges such as adapting quickly to new company cultures, maintaining job security, and integrating with permanent teams. Establishing clear communication with managers, proactively seeking feedback, and participating in team activities can help contractors build strong working relationships. It's also beneficial to stay updated on project goals and demonstrate flexibility, which can lead to future contract extensions or even permanent opportunities within the organization.

Job description

Contract Healthcare Recruiter - Pharmacy
Help connect pharmacy talent to meaningful community healthcare in a high-impact contract recruiting role.
Remote | Houston, TX Area Candidates Strongly Preferred
$35/hour | Long-Term Contract | Potential Permanent Conversion
Overview
Ascend Sync is partnering with Legacy Community Health, the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southeast Texas, to find an experienced Contract Healthcare Recruiter - Pharmacy who can step in quickly and support urgent pharmacy hiring needs.
Legacy Community Health operates more than 50 clinics across the Greater Houston and Gulf Coast region and has delivered comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable healthcare for nearly 40 years.
This is a long-term contract opportunity paying $35/hour, with the potential to convert to a permanent position in the future, most likely in 2027.
The position is remote; however, candidates based in the Houston, TX area are strongly preferred. Legacy's Pharmacy team gathers periodically and values having its recruiter participate in person. The recruiter may also represent Legacy at pharmacy school career fairs throughout the Houston area.
Candidates outside Houston are welcome to apply and are encouraged to explain why this opportunity is a strong fit. Because local candidates will be prioritized, response times for non-local applicants may be somewhat longer.
In this role, your day will include candidate outreach, sourcing, screening, follow-up, and close collaboration with hiring managers. You'll use web-based recruiting tools and an applicant tracking system to keep searches organized, maintain clear communication, and provide an excellent candidate experience.
If you enjoy building relationships, keeping stakeholders informed, and helping purpose-driven healthcare teams hire the right people, this is an opportunity to make an immediate and meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit for pharmacy and pharmacy-related positions in support of critical healthcare hiring needs.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand staffing priorities, align expectations, and provide consultative recruiting support.
  • Source, screen, and engage qualified candidates using web-based recruiting tools and an applicant tracking system.
  • Maintain organized recruiting workflows and consistent candidate and hiring manager follow-up throughout the hiring process.
  • Deliver a positive, professional, and responsive candidate experience from initial outreach through final communication.
  • Represent Legacy Community Health at pharmacy school career fairs throughout the Houston area.
  • Participate in periodic in-person gatherings with Legacy's Pharmacy team.
  • Present Legacy's opportunities to candidates in a compelling, accurate, and mission-aligned way.
  • Keep searches moving efficiently by balancing urgency, professionalism, communication, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Direct recruiting experience, ideally within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience recruiting for pharmacy positions or clearly transferable experience supporting pharmacy-related hiring.
  • Experience using web-based recruiting tools and applicant tracking systems to manage candidates and recruiting workflows.
  • Strong consultative communication skills when partnering with hiring managers and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent candidate follow-up habits and a commitment to providing a positive candidate experience.
  • An approachable, responsive, and solution-oriented customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to communicate a mission-driven healthcare employment opportunity honestly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active searches and priorities.
  • Houston-area candidates are strongly preferred due to periodic in-person Pharmacy team gatherings and local career fair representation. Candidates outside the Houston area are still encouraged to apply.
