Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., founded in 1957 and headquartered in Mississippi, is the largest producer and distributor of shell eggs in the United States. The Long Distance Truck Driver position is responsible for maintaining a professional relationship with customers; driving tractor/trailer to deliver eggs to customers; hauling and backhauling cartons and supplies; helping load and unload trailer; maintaining log books; ensuring that tractor/trailer is road worthy and assisting with other duties as assigned.


Responsibilities
  • Operate semi-truck/tractor and trailer equipment.
  • Daily inspections and housekeeping of equipment.
  • Fulfill all reporting and record-keeping requirements.
  • Follow standards of quality as outlined by Cal-Maine and other manufacturing and regulatory controls.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment.
  • Follow all company and regulatory agency safety policies.
  • Complete training and attend meetings/workshops/seminars/continuing education appropriate to the position, as assigned and approved by direct supervisor.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required for this position.
  • Pass DOT physical.
  • Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Possess a forklift certification if a forklift is used.
  • Ability to operate semi-truck/tractor with trailer with minimum of one year experience
  • Ability to do minor maintenance on equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
