Foxdale Village, a life plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale is regarded as a premier healthcare facility both locally and nationally and has been voted "Best Retirement Community in State College, PA" for over a decade. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We currently have an opportunity for a new Custodian to join our team.


We are hiring for Full-Time and Part-Time evening positions!


Full-Time position and expected work 40 hours per week (3pm-11:30pm) and every other weekend/holiday

Part-Time position and expected work 20 hours per week (3pm-11:30pm) and every other weekend/holiday 


Custodian Job Summary:

Perform janitorial and maintenance duties during the evening and night hours. Assist health services staff as needed. Make campus rounds and respond to incidents as necessary.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Perform assigned janitorial duties (e.g., sweeping, mopping and vacuuming) of various facility areas, according to schedule.
  2. Secure Community building in evening and open in morning according to schedule.
  3. Assist the Health Services staff as needed to maintain resident safety and security.
  4. Perform campus rounds according to schedule.
  5. Assist in snow removal and de-ice as needed.
  6. Carry 24 hr. emergency cell phone and 2-way radio as required to maintain effective communication.
  7. Transport residents to and from the hospital as directed by Health Services.
  8. Assist in fire drills and emergency evacuations.
  9. Respond to resident and staff calls of suspicious behavior, investigate and report to police when necessary.
  10. Complete laundry tasks as required.
  11. Note maintenance issues and complete work orders as needed.
  12. This position works a regular schedule for both the evening custodial shift and overnight custodial shift. This position covers weekdays, rotates weekends, and rotates holidays.
  13. Maintain punctuality and regular, predictable attendance in order to meet the nightly janitorial and security needs of the facility.
  14. Other duties as required and assigned by management.

Requirements


Education: High school diploma or its equivalent is strongly preferred.

Experience: Minimum of one-year of related experience (particularly on a night shift) is preferred.

Language: Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

Math: Must be able to complete tasks using basic mathematical skills.

Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid PA Driver's License.


Physical Requirements of the Position:

Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as agility, dexterity and long periods of walking, standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds (with assistance when needed). This position requires the completion of mostly non-sedentary work.
