Job description

The Shipping & Logistics Managerย is responsible forย owning outboundย logisticsย execution forย iMBranded, including transportation strategy, carrier performance, and third-party warehouse coordination. This role ensures that finished goods moveย accurately, safely, and on schedule from production, inventory, and outsourced vendors to customers and installation sites.ย

This is a leadership and control role, not a hands-on dock position.ย Dedicated team members handle day-to-day dock execution and transportation coordination. The Shipping & Logistics Manager provides structure, release authority, escalation management, and performance oversight to ensure shipping operations run predictably and in alignment with company standards.ย Success in this role is measured by on-time performance, shipment accuracy, cost control, and the absence of last-minute surprises.ย

Core Responsibilitiesย

Outbound Logistics Ownershipย

  • Own the end-to-end outbound shipping process from โ€œReady to Shipโ€ through carrier pickup and delivery confirmationย
  • Establish and enforce shipment readiness standards, release gates, and documentation requirementsย
  • Ensure all outbound shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and authorized prior to releaseย

Transportation Strategy & Carrier Managementย

  • Own carrier strategy across LTL, FTL, partial, dedicated, and expedited freightย
  • Establish routing logic and escalation criteria for non-standard shipmentsย
  • Manage carrier relationships, performance reviews, and issue resolution related to delays, damages, and service failuresย
  • Analyze freight spend,ย accessorials, and trends;ย identifyย cost-saving opportunities without increasing riskย

Third-Party Warehouse (3PL) Oversightย

  • Act as the primary operational owner of the 3PL relationshipย
  • Enforce service level agreements, release authorization rules, and KPI expectationsย
  • Ensureย accurateย ASNs, BOLs, photo documentation, and shipment confirmationsย
  • Lead operational reviews, corrective actions, and escalation when performance deviates from expectationsย

Team Leadership & Coordinationย

  • Provide direction and prioritization with the Shipping & Transportation Coordinator (transport execution)ย
  • Partner with dock leadership responsible for daily staging, loading, and floor executionย
  • Set clear expectations, workflows, and escalation paths across the shipping teamย
  • Ensure coverage planning aligns with shipment volume and project demandย

Cross-Functional Alignmentย

  • Partner closely with Inventory,ย Purchasing, Project Management, and Outsourced Production teamsย
  • Validate shipment readiness based on production completion, quality clearance, and documentation accuracyย
  • Communicate risks early when upstream delays or data issues threaten delivery commitmentsย
  • Serve as the shipping escalation point for internal stakeholders and leadershipย

Process, Controls & Complianceย

  • Enforce standardized shipping processes, documentation requirements, and release authority controlsย
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, carrier requirements, and regulatory obligationsย
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on predictability, accuracy, and risk reductionย
  • Support audits and reviews related to shipping, warehousing, andย logisticsย controlsย

Reporting & Performance Managementย

  • Track and report key shipping andย logisticsย KPIs, including:ย
  • On-time shipment performanceย
  • Pick and release accuracyย
  • Freight cost trendsย
  • Carrier and 3PL performanceย
  • Prepare regular updates for Supply Chain leadership with clear insights and recommended actionsย
  • Use data toย identifyย root causes, not just symptomsย

Qualifications & Experienceย

Requiredย

  • 5+ years of experience in shipping,ย logistics, or transportation within a manufacturing or project-based environmentย
  • Proven experience managing carriers and freight strategies beyond small parcel shippingย
  • Experience working with ERP systems and shipping documentation workflowsย
  • Strong understanding of freight modes, packaging requirements, and damage preventionย
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce process and push back when conditions are not metย
  • Excellent communication and escalation judgmentย

Preferredย

  • Experience managing or coordinating with third-party warehouses or contractย logisticsย providersย
  • Background in shipping large-format, high-value, or custom-manufactured goodsย
  • Experience supporting installation-based or project-driven delivery environmentsย
  • Exposure to KPI-driven operations and SLA enforcementย
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or equivalent experienceย
