Job description

TITLE: Shipping & Logistics Supervisor

LOCATION: Pontiac, Michigan

DIRECT REPORTS: 0 employees

FLSA STATUS: Salary Exempt

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager and Logistics Manager

FUNCTION: This person will be reporting to the Logistics Manager and will be responsible for coordinating and executing outbound and inbound shipping activities, transportation processes, customs documentation, order management, and logistics support functions. The position will ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of products while supporting internal departments, suppliers, dealers, and customers.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

•Develop, analyze and execute logistics plans to ensure least cost, best quality and timely delivery of whole goods, Tractors, and Vehicles.

• Manage and coordinate all air shipments to ensure timely delivery and compliance with transportation requirements.
• Coordinate plant transfers and dealer transfers to support inventory balancing and customer demand.
• Oversee general outbound shipping operations and ensure shipments are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Manage inbound shipments from suppliers, including international container deliveries.

•Streamline customs clearance process by assisting appointed Customs Broker.

•Monitor inbound container visibility port ETAs and work with suppliers and forwarder to resolve documentation issues that may otherwise contribute to delays, detention, demurrage.

•Processes requests for U.S. HTS, Schedule B, ECCN classification for internal stakeholders.

•Maintains the Export Schedule B, ECCN, and U.S. HTS Import Database with current information.
• Support Engineering department with inbound, outbound, and special project shipping requirements.
• Create and print Manufacturer’s Certificates of Origin (MCOs) for original sales and unit transfers.
• Provide shipping and logistics support for trade shows, special events, and other unique transportation requirements.
• Prepare export documentation and coordinate document submission with customs brokers to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Process invoice coding and approval for all transportation and customs-related invoices.
• Resolve shipping discrepancies and transportation issues while maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics processes, transportation efficiency, and customer service performance.



Requirements, prior accomplishments, experience and skills:

• Minimum 4-6 years of experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related field.
• Knowledge of domestic and international transportation processes, freight documentation, and shipping procedures.
• Experience preparing export documentation and coordinating with customs brokers.
• Working knowledge of transportation terminology, bills of lading, shipping documentation, and carrier operations.

• Experienced in trade compliance and knowledge in Federal Regulations “CFR” 19, 15, 22

• Experienced in U.S. import regulations and USHTS classifications.

• Experienced in export classifications and ECCN determinations.
• Experience with ERP systems preferred, including Plex, SAP, or similar business management systems.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.


Physical Requirements:

• Job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout the warehouse and yard.
• Job requires regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials weighing greater than 20 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate and work around material handling equipment.
• Ability to work in warehouse, outdoor yard, and manufacturing environments.
